Gala Opening - Friday, 23 October - 7.30 - 10.30pm
The Mt Eliza Art Exhibition kicks off with what has become the annual ‘must attend’ event on the peninsula!! Held on Friday, 23rd October 2009, 7.30pm to 11pm, the gala opening of the 2009 show is expected to attract over 500 guests through the doors.
Join us for a fabulous evening where you can take advantage of the first opportunity to view and purchase from an impressive selection of both traditional and contemporary art, sculpture and jewellery pieces from local and national artists.
At 8.00pm, the Exhibition is officially opened by our guest speaker, Wendy Orr, best selling author of many children's books including 'Nim's Island' . Wendy will also be presenting the inaugural 'Bringing Words to Life' prize to the winning artist. This will be followed by an auction hosted by our sponsors, Buxton Real Estate where you will have the chance to bid on a range of items, ranging from unique art pieces to sports memorabilia.
Guests will enjoy a wonderful atmosphere with live music, contemporary gourmet delights from our opening night sponsors Blue Mini Café and Morning Sun Vineyard and exceptional local wines from a selection of the Mornington Peninsulas premier wineries.
Enjoy mingling and view original artwork in a relaxed and informal setting to welcome in the event for 2009. There is something for everyone, with a range of affordable pieces to the more collectors’ items.

PAYMENT
All purchases must be made in full. Methods of payment are: cash, EFTPOS, credit card (Bankcard, Mastercard and Visa only) or cheque (ID is required for cheque payment, eg driver's license)
SOLD ITEMS
Sold items will be marked with a red dot sticker. If a purchaser wishes to consider a piece further or hold it to show someone else, a half red dot sticker will be placed on the piece. The staff member will make a note of the time and the person’s details and the item will be held for one half hour from that time. If the interested party has not returned to purchase the piece within that half hour, the half dot will be removed and the piece may then be purchased by another party.
COLLECTING PURCHASES
Small items purchased may be taken at the time of purchase but must be wrapped by a staff member. Large items or items integral to the exhibition may be collected between 3.00pm and 6.00 pm on Sunday 26 October or by arrangement with the Convenor. Freight and insurance costs are the responsibility of the purchaser and are not included in the price of the artwork.
CAFE D ART
The wonderful Cafe d Art is run by the parents and Grade 6 students to provide light refreshments over the course of the weekend. Find your way to a tea, coffee, scone or cake in the staff room.
WINE SALES
Wine will be available to purchase by the glass between 12.00 pm and 4.00pm on Saturday 23rd and between 12.00 pm and 3.00pm on Sunday 24th. Please find your way to our bar area and purchase a glass to enjoy as you view the wonderful work exhibited.
